MISSION
The Advanced Biomanufacturing Initiative (iBIO) at Rice University was founded in 2015 with the mission of conducting cutting-edge research that supports the commercialization of biomanufacturing.
VISION
Through the Advanced Biomanufacturing Initiative, Rice seeks to support the development and commercialization of innovative technologies that will engage both the public and private sectors, encouraging multi-disciplinary collaboration across traditional boundaries, establishing new partnerships and driving innovation.
The initiative is also focused on understanding the downstream impacts of these new innovations and ensuring their development and implementation can create positive impacts for society, the environment, and industry. Through education and outreach programs, the initiative also serves to promote advanced biomanufacturing and train the future leaders and innovators. Together, these core research, commercialization, and education activities will enable Rice University to establish itself as a leading entity for research, innovation and commercialization of advanced biomanufacturing.
